A Simple Tip When Using Feed Pans

Cattle are creatures of habit and we want to keep their feeding schedule the same as it is at home, or close to it, leading up to show day. Implementing feeding out of a feed pan a few day before you go to the show will help your calf make a smooth transition from the feed bunk to the feed pan.

One thing to keep in mind that can get overlooked is keeping their feed pans clean inside and on the bottom.

When you stack your feed pans the dirt and shavings on the bottom of the feed pan will end up in the one that you set it in. To avoid this, take a towel and wipe them inside and out. Although very simple, this will help keep your calf on feed at the show.
